“Empowering women means empowering humanity!” That was the chorus among discussants at the
Women Transforming the World seminar.
World Bank President Ajay Banga kicked off the discussion by revealing that the Bank upgraded
its mission last year to creating a world free of poverty and empowering the women, placing the
emphasis on the latter.

He went on to disclose that the Bank had lined up ambitious goals expected to be achieved by 2030.
Some of these include, engaging 250 million women in digital skills acquisition and education, 300
million women in broadband, and 80 million in fintech business with capital access already kick-started
in 25 countries.

Responding, Sandra Ablamba Johnson, Minister/General Secretary at the Presidency, Togo praised the
new path as favourable to women who constitute 52% of the Togolese population. Her home
government, she said has approved equality in employment and business opportunities, as women
stand out as highly enterprising and better ‘loan payers’.
