The ongoing World Bank Annual Meetings will today explore the potential of enhancing women’s economic opportunities to significantly transform the global landscape.

Bank President Ajay Banga, who began his five-year term on June 2, 2023, will speak at the event. A former President and CEO of Mastercard, Banga has a background in global economic growth and financial inclusion. He has served as Vice Chairman at General Atlantic, Co-Chair of the Partnership for Central America, and on the boards of the American Red Cross, Kraft Foods, and Dow Inc.

Another speaker is Anneliese Dodds, who was appointed Minister for Development at the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office and Minister for Women and Equalities at the Department for Education on 8 July 2024.

Dr. Sandra Ablamba Johnson, a development economist and expert in private sector development, will also grace the event. She holds a Doctorate in Economic Sciences, a Diploma of Advanced Specialized Studies (DESS) in Economic Sciences, and diplomas in Programming and Financial Policies, and Employment Economics. She was appointed Minister, Secretary General of the Presidency of the Togolese Republic on September 28, 2020 and also in charge of the Ministry of Planning.
